Pierre-Yves Geoffard

Biography

Pierre-Yves Geoffard currently holds the position of Professor of Economics at PSE-Ecole d’Économie de Paris and is Director of Research at the CNRS. He is also Director of Studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and Research Fellow at CEPR (Centre for Economic Policy Research). He is currently co-leading a multidisciplinary project on social inequalities in health through a gender lens, funded by the European Research Council.

Among his many responsibilities, Pierre-Yves Geoffard has held several positions within PSE, notably as Director of the UMR PjSE (Paris-Jourdan Sciences Économiques), Director of the Master’s and doctoral program APE (Economic Analysis and Policy), and Director of PSE-Paris School of Economics.

He was also a member of the National AIDS Council, the National Digital Council in 2017, and is currently a member of the Scientific Council of IRDES (Institute for Research and Documentation in Health Economics), and the National Institute for Health Data. He was a columnist for Libération for the “economic” section from 2004 to 2022.

Pierre-Yves Geoffard holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in Economics from the University of Paris-Dauphine. He also holds two postgraduate degrees, one in Economic Analysis and Policy from EHESS and the other in Mathematics Applied to Economic Sciences from the University of Paris-Dauphine. He is also a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure.
