Biography

Claire Waysand currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Engie, where she is responsible for the General Secretariat, Strategy, Research and Innovation, and Communication. She is also a director of the La Poste group.

Before joining Engie, Claire Waysand devoted a large part of her career to the service of the State in France. In particular, she held the position of Chief of Staff to Michel Sapin, Minister of Finance and Public Accounts, where she coordinated all of the Minister’s activities, including the Sapin 2 law. Previously, she was Deputy Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and Deputy Director General of the Treasury. She has a strong background in European affairs, having represented France in the European Economic and Financial Committee and served as an Executive Director at the European Investment Bank (EIB). She also worked at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., and gained extensive international experience in both developed and emerging economies. Claire Waysand joined the ENGIE Group in October 2019 and served as interim CEO of the company from February to December 2020.
