30 economists and one conviction : the need for an open debate

Rencontres Économiques de Casablanca 2014

The Cercle des économistes organised the first edition of the Rencontres Économiques de Casablanca with the topic : « Is Africa the World’s Future ? ».

These Rencontres were held onthe 9th and 10th of April at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Initiated by the Cercle des économistes together with many partners, the Rencontres Economiques de Casablanca is a unique event in Morocco, an important hub between Europe and the quickly developing Africa.

The event lasted for two days and gathered important political, academic and business figures from all over Africa and Europe. The objective was to create a constructive and qualitative economic debate.

This first in Casablanca was attended by eminent members  of the Cercle des économistes :  Jean-Hervé Lorenzi, Jean-Marie Chevalier, André Cartapanis, Olivier Pastré, Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann et Christian de Boissieu… and well-known economists : Jean-Eric Aubert, Brahim Benjelloun-Touimi, Hervé Le Bras, Yves Delaine, Nezah Lahrichi, Moulay Hafid Elelamy, Arnaud Poissonnier, Laurent Sablé, Philippe Tillous-Borde, Mohamed Tozy, Martin Ziguélé et Lionel Zinsou, who shared their views on the various topics discussed.

The speakers really got involved and imagined new solutions, contributing to a better understanding of the fundamental economic issues in Europe and Africa and drawing the lines of possible solutions that could enhance the economic future of both companies and people…
